Application Process

Karis’ most unique aspect is the involvement of current Community Members in accepting potential Community Members.

Application Criteria

You are at least 21 years of age.
Your primary struggle is a mental health diagnosis.
You can pay the monthly rent of $685. (We are unable to accept Section 8 Housing Vouchers.)
You are able to work, volunteer, or attend school for at least 20 hours a week.
You are working with a therapist in the community to assist you in addressing mental health issues.
You are able to take medication on your own.
If you are on medication, you are working with a psychiatrist in the local community.
You can attend at least three (3) Community dinners each week. Dinner is provided six (6) days a week.
You can attend at least one in-house evening support group per week.
You can attend Community Meetings on Thursdays.
You will be assigned monthly house jobs.
You are able to offer support to and receive support from the Community.
Substance Use: 90 days of not using marijuana, alcohol, or any other substances (both legal and illegal). Recommend attending outside support groups.
Self-Harm Behavior: 90 days of abstinence from behavior, including any suicide attempts.

Weekly Support Groups

Community Members are required to attend the Community Meeting and at least one support group each week. Community Members managing a co-occurring substance use disorder must also participate in the Recovery Support Group.

Resident Fees

The cost to residents for a single room is $685/month. This fees include room & board, utilities, household supplies, six evening meals, social and recreational activities, clinical programming, and 24-hour staff availability. We are unable to accept Section 8 Housing Vouchers. There is a $200 security deposit with first month’s rent. 

Healing is possible today.

Applicants are referred from community mental health centers, hospitals, physicians, therapists, case managers, and other community resources. Applicants are also referred by loved ones, such as family or friends. Karis has no geographical restrictions and is open to referrals from outside of Colorado.
